2016-2017 SCHOOL CALENDAR

The Board of Education passed Next Year's Calendar.  The starting day will be Wednesday, August 10 and Fall Break will be the week of October 3 - 7 and the students will not attend on Monday, October 10. 

GT Trip

The TC Gifted and Talented Department and 21st Century is teaming up for one more field trip for the school year.  On May 24th (Yes, School will be out but learning never stops), we will be heading to Clarksville to attend a play at the Roxy Theater. We will be seeing everyone's favorite ogre, Shrek in the musical, Shrek Jr.  Buses will load and leave from TCMS at 3:00 pm and we will have dinner at Fazoli's.  Showtime will be at 6:00 pm and have us returning around 9:30 pm (Which this will not be a school night).  Permission forms can be obtained at the school office or the TCMS library.  50 tickets have been reserved so only the first 50 people signing up may attend. 

Elkton 5K Run/Walk

The Elkton 5K Run/Walk is coming soon on Friday, May 13th.  Entries prior to May 10th are $20.00- after May 10th its $25.00.  Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Milliken Community House.  Race time is 6 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Todd County 4-H Camp scholarship program (sending kids to camp.) Applications may be picked up from the Todd County 4-H office in the Courthouse.  Or you can print the attachment.  T-shirts for the first 100 to register. An award will go to the school or business with the most participants! 

FREE RADON TEST KITS

Available for families living in Todd County.  Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can cause lung cancer.  You can’t see or smell radon.  Testing is the only way to know if your family is at risk.  Pickup your test kit today at the Todd County Health Department, 205 East McReynolds Drive, Elkton, KY. Available Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  If you have questions, contact Kristi Wyatt @ 270-265-2362.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION


North Todd's Kindergarten Registration will be held on Friday, April 29 from 9:00 am -12 pm.  This is for children entering Kindergarten who are not currently enrolled in the school's preschool program.  The child must be 5 years old by Sept. 30.  Please call 270-277-6800 for an appointment and for information.

KINDERGARTEN READINESS NIGHT

North Todd's Kindergarten Readiness Night for all students entering Kindergarten is May 9th from 6

NORTH TODD BOOK SWAP

North Todd students are invited to participate in a BOOK SWAP.  The Book Swap will be held in the library media center during school hours.  Bring in your gently used books and trade them in for "new to you" books to read!  Bring donated books to school starting the week of April 11 until April 29.  Students will attend the book swap from May 17th to 20th.  Permission forms were sent home this week.  Students must have a signed permission form to participate.  

TCMS SOCCER POLL

A poll has been sent out with 4th and 5th grade students to see if there is enough interest to start a middle school soccer team.  The season will be August and September of 2016.  If your child is interested in playing middle school soccer please return the form to school or email Todd Mansfield at [email protected]

RECIPE OF THE MONTH CLUB

Extension News: The Todd County Extension SNAP Assistant, Amy Stooksbury is offering: Recipe of the Month Club 2016.  The first Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. a new recipe will be prepared. Classes are being held at the Todd County Extension Office Meeting Room in the Old Courthouse.

IMPORTANT TRANSPORTATION REMINDER

If your child changes their normal morning or afternoon transportation--please call and we will send home a new transportation form home. This is if they go from car to bus or change buses. 

ATTENDANCE REMINDER

Truancy occurs when you accumulate three unexcused events this includes tardies and whole day /half day absences.  You are allowed 5 parent notes for tardies and 5 parent notes for absences after you exceed your allotted parent notes a doctors excuse is needed.  When 3 unexcused events happen you will be sent a letter from the Truancy officer about your attendance.  You only have three days from the day you return from an absence to turn in a note for it to be considered excused.  

NUTRITION AND COOKING CLASSES

Amy Stooksbury, SNAP Ed Assistant with the Todd County Extension Service, is offering a series of classes focusing on nutrition, healthy eating, low cost cooking, demonstrations and taste testing.  These are offered at various times and locations in the county.  For more information, call Amy at the Extension Office at 270-265-5659.  

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION

North Todd is again collecting Box Tops for Education.  Collection sheets are being sent home. May drop off in office.

FLU SHOTS

The Health Department has flu shots available here at school.  If you want your child to have a flu shot and you don't have a consent form, feel free to call the school and Mrs. Beth will send one home.

INCLEMENT WEATHER PACKETS

After missing 5 days of school, the "inclement weather schedule" begins.  One again, you will have two options to complete at home, OR you may use the Internet to complete work through Compass Learning or Moby Max.  Keep in mind that inclement weather can affect your internet connection.  You can always pick up a packet from the school as a backup.
